McAffee and let me tell you why... I have Norton on my computer but had two download trojans that was pestering the hell out of me. I could barely do anything on my computer.
I got tired of Norton telling me that there's nothing wrong. I went to the McAffee website and downloaded the 30 free trial. It made me get rid of Norton. Once that was done it immediately told me that there were two download trojans and that they couldn't be deleted, cleaned or quarantined. I knew that the files were write protected. The only thing I don't like about any Anti-Virus is they don't tell you that you can put your computer in safe mode and get rid of the virus if the software can't.

Norton Anti-Virus and McAffee are some of the best out there. If you're trying to download one from the Internet, be careful. Some are scams, and they only bring more viruses into your system! Also, for spyware, you should download Windows Defender from www.microsoft.com - it's the best, and very trustworthy. It's from Microsoft after all! Oh, btw, you need to be able to validate/have a genuine license in order to download it.

I'll 2nd Avast. It's totally free. I had McAfee for years and then, when the subscription ran out, I downloaded Avast. Did a complete scan of my hard drive and found 2 viruses that McAfee NEVER did.
It's not perfect, but for free, it ain't bad. You'll have to register (it's free) and get a registration code. No biggie

the properly 3 loose AV classes are Avast, Avira, and AVG (depending upon the outcome of diverse self reliant finding out labs). i latterly reviewed the rankings of various self reliant finding out labs and positioned that Kaspersky and BitDefender are both properly paid AV classes with those 2 swapping to and fro contained in the properly 2 slots on the distinct finding out labs. that is now to not say that they were considerably more effective acceptable than some others, like Norton's. many times, the properly names are all interior 2 or 3 percentage factors contained in the finding out outcomes.

It's good and it's free! It was also rated I think 5th or 6th best AV program (ahead of Norton too!) by consumer reports (read the review at a friends house forget how the rankings went) but it was the only free one on the list.
