in windows xp move your cursor over a blank spot on the task bar. right click your mouse and click on Properties.
click the check boxes for "lock the task bar" and "keep the taskbar on top of other windows".

That's right .... if the Windows key isn't present, try Ctrl + Esc.
This will tell you if you need to adjust your monitor settings ;-)
You may also see a 2-headed arrow pointing up & down, if so just click and move it back up.

What likely happened is that your taskbar got resized down to one pixel. Here's what you should do: bring your mouse down until it's almost off the screen -- it should turn into a black vertical arrow. Then grab and pull up -- that should resize the taskbar back to its normal size (or bigger, if you want).

turn off auto hide
rite click the task bar when u strt yur pc
deselect the auto hide option

its not on auto hide you pull it down by mistake do you see the edge of the bar. left click and hold it and pull up then let go it will stay put. your mouse cursor will turn to a arrow up and down then it is at the edge.

press the windows button on your keyboard. should be around the alt and ctrl keys
