Will be travelling to the Netherlands soon, my french is mediocre and german is poor, I was hoping someone could provide a link for a dutch translator or phrase guide. Or if you can recommend a book that would be appreciated. Just need to get by conversationally, so nothing too complicated please. :)

I wouldn't worry about it, you'll get around perfectly with English. My wife is an American, and had difficulties learning Dutch because so many answered her in English when they heard her accent..

But, if it makes you feel more secure, almost any bookshop will be able to supply you with a little Berlitz or similar phrasebooklet.

I tried that method but didn't do to well. The Dutch have plenty of sounds we don't have in English (esp. for g, ch, ui, & ij), and they're next to impossible to explain in writing. The best bet would be to go to your library and see if they have a Dutch cassette/CD course so you can hear the sounds. Yes, everyone speaks english in most dutch cities, but you will impress if you speak some dutch.
