internet marketing not internet advertising

ADVANTAGES:
Internet marketing, also known as SEO, is typically considered the most effective form of marketing, online or offline. That is because having Internet marketing performed correctly and ethically on one's Website allows the site to reach the most online visitors, across the most states and countries, across many search engines, for numerous keyword terms.

Other advantages include: being able to build brand recognition, a site can achieve first page keyword rankings across search engines like Google, MSN, Yahoo and others, eliminating costly PPC programs if a site is optimized naturally/organically in engines, and a site owner can see a fast ROI (return on investment).

DISADVANTAGES:
Internet marketing, while usually a monthly ongoing maintenance fee, may still seem too expensive for businesses working out of their homes or small business trying to find an affordable way to market their websites online. In addition, once an Internet marketing or SEO professional completely stops maintaining your Internet marketing program for you (and you do not considerd yourself to be a qualified professional), the rankings a site owner worked so hard to achieve in the search engines eventually drop/fall in the results (nobody working on keeping them there anymore). Getting high keyword rankings and keeping them takes ongoing commitment and time, so when nobody is there anymore to continuously work on the rankings, they will fall. One last disadvantage I can think of is that sometimes Websites simply cannot be optimized at all or have Internet marketing performed, due to a number of reasons, such as the Website was designed/built in a way that search engines cannot find or recognize pages within the site in order to optimize it (frames, flash websites, dynamic HTML pages, etc).

Advantages:

One of the most important advantages is the fast availability of the information. The clients/users can easily get information, by navigating the internet, about the products that they wish to purchase, and besides that, they can check the information at anytime of the day.
Disadvantages:

Slow internet connections can cause difficulties. If the companies build too complex or too large websites, it will take too long for users to check them or download them and they will get bored eventually..
The e-commerce doesn’t allow the user “to touch” the merchandise before purchasing it. Because of this, some salesmen are starting to guarantee the possibility of returning the product. In Germany, where a law that regulates e-commerce and guarantees the customers the total refund of the money exists since 2000, the electronic commerce is very popular.
Other factor is the payment: many users still don’t trust in the electronic methods of paying and give up buying online because of this.
One of the major disadvantages may be the lack of trust of the users because of the constant virtual promotions that appear to be frauds. This is an aspect that deteriorates the image and reputation of quality and honest companies.
Other disadvantage is the cash on delivery system, since it doesn’t guarantee the 100% purchase of the product. This is also the case of thousands of users that dedicate themselves to daily mock big companies by ordering on the internet using false identities.
It allows the companies to save money, an aspect that is really taken into account by the companies since the online marketing campaigns don’t require a large amount of investment.
The previous mentioned aspect, gives less importance to the differences between large and small companies in some way, thus increasing the competition and giving that way advantages to the customers.
Presence on the Internet can help the expansion of the company from a local market to national and international markets at the same time, offering almost infinite expanding possibilities.
On the internet everything can be measured, thus it’s easier for the companies to know almost instantly if their campaign is working or not, what company or user is interested in their products, from what cities or countries are they, etc.

The main advantage is it's CHEAP, no real disadvantages. It depends on what you're selling really. If, for example the people you get from the internet are not qualified leads they may not be as good. There is a lot to internet marketing, it's not just Search Engine Optimization. There's pay per click, social media, back linking, etc...

Internet Marketing is giant thing we can not explain its advantages or disadvantages in just 3 to 4 sentence. In my opinion Internet Marketing helps us to reach directly to the buyers. Internet Marketing helps big business to reach almost everyone. Big disadvantage is negative reviews about the product.

Advertising
# Generally speaking, advertising is the paid promotion of goods, services, companies and ideas by an identified sponsor. Marketers see advertising as part of an overall promotional strategy. Other components of the promotional mix include publicity, public relations, personal selling and sales promotion.

As you can see 'marketing' is part of advertising, so although they are not the same thing (one a subset of the other) the advantages/disadvantages would be the same.

Internet marketing is necessary because most people spend time online just like time watching the TV and time on the road that is why billboards still exist and adverts on buses and on TV. Internet marketing is just the same.

Great post! Email tracking is key. When you can see what each recipient does with your email (how long they had it open, etc.) it really helps. Actually, there is a really cool new software available from Vorexa. They're taking the email marketing world by storm. They offer a totally out-of-the-box solution called MindReader that apparently does just that!
