how do i get to turn IM messenger on, not really sure how it works

Do you have Yahoo shortcuts on your browser tool bar? If so, there will be a link there.

Are you speaking of Yahoo! Messenger?
1. Click on http://messenger.yahoo.com
2. Click "Download"
3. Click "Open / Run"
4. Set your Preferences.
5. Once it has been installed, it should automatically pop up. Type in your Yahoo! ID and password.

well i still dont get the problem, but u double click on the icon and enter your username and password and sign in , and make sure u appear to be online but if u mean it doesnt work try removin it from your computer and redownloading the IM . good luck
