for example, that theme for the O.C, where all they say is "California" over and over again....and many, many other songs like it!

I've been to many great places in the world, icluding CA...but it still doesn't justify all the songs about it....time to be creative again I think!!!

There really aren't that many songs 'bout CA -- really. (Someone recently asked for titles of California songs, and there were VERY FEW written in the past 20 years).
I don't watch O.C. (Maybe that's your problem!)

the only songs I like that have to do with California are Dani California and Californication by RHCP, Going To California by Zeppelin, and Hotel California by the Eagles. past that I cant think of many more California songs.
There should be more songs about Illinois. =)

Not really; and to the whole O.C. thing, the song got massively overplayed b/c of that show, but if you see it in the context of their music video it is really good. As an intro song it's annoying, but for the video it fits really well.

I love California! Anytime California can get recognition for something other than the heat, high taxes, gangs etc. it's a good thing!

You know, when I ws a teen in the sixties, I hated the Beach Boys and their damn songs about California surfin' and California girls being the best, and I still hate California songs...gag!

actually I rather like the full song. I agree that there seem to be more songs (at least nationally) about california than other states, but perhaps you are mostly just jealous that it is not your state?

no. california is cool. in my opinion the most important place in musical history..mid 60's haight ashbury district san francisco...also setting for a lot of tragedies too...i hated L.A. when i went...
