Need to know what kind of alga...water-born or on walls of pond? If green water, you need to cover about 70% of the surface with ... lily leaves, etc., and the green will start to go away with normal filtration. IF the alga is on the walls, don't worry about it. Add some gold fish and they will eat it. YOu can filter your heart out and the green will not fully go away unless you get a UV filter that is big enough for the size of the pool. I have a large koi pond with tank filters outside, huge pump, and even then, there are times that the water turns green. The UV filter does a lot, but nothing does enough if there is too much sun hitting the water. When my lilies take off, the water turns very clear. Good luck
