This is a tricky situation... Does your school say anything about contacting the roommate, i.e., we encourage you to contact each other to coordinate what you each will bring to furnish your room? Then you've got your excuse to call.
You need a really good reason to contact her, something friendly, practical...
Maybe you could use the excuse of what each of you is bringing. Do you have a minifridge or something that you two would share? You could use that as a reason to call and spend a bit of time chatting and feeling her out--seeing what she is like.
Of course, you probably shouldn't mention your horrible roommate or she will put 2 and 2 together and figure that this is the reason you are contacting her.
Good luck!

Call or e-mail. Find out if your roomate already has a refrigerator or microwave, etc. so you can plan your room together and avoid problems. Ask what her major is and act interested in meeting her. Don't judge her over the phone, though, since some people aren't really good on the phone and there are often distractions that make them sound odd to the listener! Good luck at school this fall.

Call her. It's not creepy, that's why the number was provided in
the first place. It's not easy but sometimes you can get a sense
of a person over the phone-it can be easy if she's a nut. There's
nothing worse than a bad room-mate and calling her may save you a lot of trouble.

I don't think it's creepy, but it probably won't help a whole lot, because it's hard to really get to know what someone is like on the phone. You won't know what she is like as a roommate until a few days after you move in together.

nope..it's not wierd at all. i called my roommate before moving in freshman year and found out she's not attending the university anymore. and then i figured out who my new roommate is and we ended up living together for 2 years, and maybe even more if she hadn't joined a sorority. So calling is definitely a good idea.

Give her a call. They gave you her name and number for a reason. Some schools even give e-mails. This is mainly so you can decide on what you each should bring. ect. but you may be able to get a feeling of what she likes. It couldnt hurt and isnt wierd in any way.

Give the person a call to say hi. You can have a lot to talk about. Plus, it will make moving in less awkward.

in case you're actually not on the hire, circulate stunning away. they simply prefer your money to pay lease so they are able to spend greater on drugs. in any different case, tell the owner of the subject and tell them you're shifting because of the fact of it. they don't have a concern with that, extremely in the event that they have been already in there once you moved in. you are able to desire to get in concern too if the police get entangled on an identical time as you reside there.

that is why they give you their contact info, you should call her and see what you need to bring because you wont have room for 2 fridges, 2 tvs, etc. ask her about her interests to see if you will have things in common. it is really expected that you at least email or call her before school sometime.
