What's the correct formatting for quotes that take up three or more lines in an essay?

I'm just finishing my summer assignment, and I'm a little stuck here. I remember I have to separate, but not how. A little help?

depends on what format you use. No quotation marks, indent the quote and make it single spaced, site your source either in the into line to the quote followed by : and then the quote as above or after the quote in parenthesis.

Hard-return top and bottom to separate the quote from the essay, indent the left and right margins of the quote by one tab-stop and single-space the quote.
