my brother in law gave my cousin my nephews. they didnt sign a custody paper or anything and now he wants them back. is there anyway we can stop him. because he is abusive to those kids. we called children services and they said there is nothing they can do until they go back with him. please help. i am i the state of ohio b/c i dont know if all children laws are they same. thanks

I have no idea but how old are the children as at a certain age they can say where they want to stay and as your brother-in-law let the children live with some one else. That shows he gave up his parental rights but one thing not in the eyes of the law. Your cousin can fight for them by going to a lawyer or solicitor and see what they say. Here in England we have CAB and they give out free advice on legal things, maybe you guys in Ohio might have the same. I hope you resolve this problem as you want the children with the best person. I can see you are a very caring person towards the children and care very much for them. Get legal help as that is the best way round this situation. Good Luck.

I don't think there's much you can do, but start by getting an attorney and taking their parents to court for custody. Explain the situation, have all the proof that you can get together....I think you'd have a good case.
