My daughter starts kindergarten this fall, so this is new to me. How do YOU label a backpack? On the inside only? On the back? With some kind of iron-on label? Sharpie marker? Who has some ideas or suggestions for me?

ONLY on the inside, that's the most important thing!
This is so that child predators don't see the child's name and call to them. You should also try to put a cell phone or parent work phone as a contact number, because someone can get your home address if you list a home phone. It's sad that you even have to consider this, but it's a reality.

If you have a fabric backpack, an iron-on label is a good idea; if not, use a permanent marker like a Sharpie. Another idea is to sew on a patch or get a colorful zipper pull that the child can easily identify their backpack in the event more than one child has the same pack.

School start here in 6 days, 20 hours, and 21 minutes. HOORAY!

Backpack Labels

OMG 6 boxes of 24 count crayons? Those things don't cost a dollar each. I wouldn't be buying that at all. They'd get at most two of the ones that need multiples. I would also be sending a letter telling the teacher that I take full responsibility and not to punish my child for being unprepared, because I was not buying school supplies for that entire class.

You should buy some labels to put on the inside of the backpack and then put your childs name on it with a permanent marker.

Your answer to my question was right on target. Thank You!!! If the book bag is cloth then you can do an Iron on but if its one of those vinyl character ones then you dont want to do that. The sharpie marker is best and also place a mark on the inside of the bag in a spot only you know about and if it is ever missing you can identify it that way too.

My mom always used sharpie on the inside. Of course, if the inside is black, that doesn't do you any good and you'd have to use that clothing tape stuff.

You could also buy the most hiddeous or unique one out there and then she'll know it's hers.

You can do any one of the above - or mix them. I used a Sharpie marker and label on the outside with the last name, then first initial!@

sharpie marker, put it where a stranger would NOT be able to walk up to her and read her name.

and a tag or decorations on the outside for her to identify if someone else has the same kind, youd be surprised hopw they can pick theirs out from evryone elses.

I have four kids, and I always do it the same way. I use a black sharpie on the underside of the tag.
