Ok. My bf went to pay his car the other day at the bank and they told him they were going to reimburse it because he was behind payments for $2500. He has 25 days to pay that off. If not then he loses out on what he paid on it ($15,000, he bought it new for $30,000). But, he doesn't have his license because he owes $1000 in tickets, owes $2000 in taxes, car has no registration, no insurance, and has a bunch of dents and a cracked window and bad transmission, etc. Should he just hand up the car and lose out $15,000 and start over so he can get his license back and pay off all his debts or pay the $2500 and still pay his monthly payments of $500 and pay his tickets and stuff later? Oh yea and he is on probation till next year so if he gets caught w/out a license he goes to jail automatically for 2 years. What would you do?

sounds like he's not responsible enough to take care of himself, so my suggestion to you is to get a 2nd job & raise him as your own.

Sounds like your boyfriend got ripped off. He paid $30,000 for a car with a bunch of dents, a cracked window and bad transmission, and you said etc. which makes me think there is more things wrong with the car. The bank didn't take his payment because they wanted the entire amount that was due
In my opinion, he should sue the car lot for ripping him off and file bankruptcy to clear his bills out of the way. He can put the car in bankruptcy. I did when I got ripped off, got my money back from the car lot, and they had to pick the car up. But, by the time the car lot came and got there, all four tires were flat. The tires had good tread on them but evidently each one of them had a slow leak. I laughed so hard that day. Sorry, I got off track here. Now, back to what I was saying.
After your boyfriend files bankruptcy he can get his tickets and everything else paid off. If he has a job that doesn't take out taxes, he should find a job that does that will solve owing taxes.
But, just because someone gets in debt doesn't mean you have to dump him. Everyone gets in a financial bind once in awhile when unexpected expenses arise without warning such as having to go to the doctor when you are sick and have to get prescriptions that are costly.
Good luck to you both. I hope I helped.

I would tell him to let the bank repossess the car...he'd still have to pay back the difference in the price plus damages. The $3000+ in bills/debt are far more pressing than a car. Not to mention that it would keep him out of jail.

Sounds like your bf needs to be a little more responsible. I am not trying to offend or criticize but keeping good credit and having a drivers license are pretty important. Bad credit will haunt you for a time. Don't know what to say specifically about the car though. Good luck.

umm..they are "repossessing" not "reimbursing" him for the car. He will still owe money because of the damages. Sounds to me like he's got no choice. He's probably going to face more legal troubles because of the condition of the car too. Give it up and work hard to pay what is owed and STAY OUT OF TROUBLE!

You can't help someone who won't help himself. Your bf isn't helping himself. Don't have a child for a while because you're going to have your hands very full for a long time raising the child you have on your hands. Me, I'd get a new boyfriend. They guy you've got is in such a deep hole there is no way he's going to dig out of this for a long time.
You'll say you love him. Love is a choice.

I think he should pay the $2500 and still pay his monthly instalments. He can then slowly pay off his tickets and stuff later.

i imagine you realize the answer. men love the chase. do not EVER chase men! you'll lose all of them too speedy! in case you go with him to no longer take you with no interest, disappear even longer this time. Get busy with different activities outside of him. let him chase you and once you're taking him back, end each of the texting and calling etc. that is a reliable thanks to keep dropping him.

i'd drop him like a bad habit... do you really wanna be with this guy??? if this is the situation he's in now.... where will he be in 5 years??? if he's old enough to accumulate this kind of debt and get into this kind of trouble... he's old enough to take responsibility for himself learn to pay his bills.
sounds like he needs to get a job and a bus pass!
