So I read the Half-Blood Prince recently, and it sounds like Harry and his pals are going to spend the next book chasing after Snape and crew, right? So is the understanding that the next book will probably NOT be based much at Hogwartz school anymore, and instead will just take place at various locations throughout the country? It's assumed that Harry is DONE with his wizarding studies from this point on?

The only real reason Harry was at the school was because of Dumbledore anyway, so since he is gone there would not be much of a point for Harry to stay at the school. He is no longer any safer there than anyone else. I think the real question is whether or not Harry is going to live, period. Not where, but if he will at all. There is so much speculation going around because of hints that Rowling is dropping. Whatever the outcome, or whatever the scenery, the next book is going to be a woozy!

Good question, I guess it won't. Hogwarts is very much unprotected since Dumbledore's death, and McGonagall doesn't seem to be eager to keep the school open.
Harry will have to go looking for the horcruxes, that's more important than finding Snape. I think Draco Malfoy and Snape will play a very important part in book seven. Maybe Harry will go back to Hogwarts looking for the horcruxes, that may be something from the founders and still hidden at school. Perhaps Harry is a horcrux himself.
But... yeah, Harry must consider his schooling time is over. The Weasley twins did the same during book five, never finished school and went and opened a successful joke shop in Diagon Alley :)

Most likely it won't since harry said he wasn't going back, but there has to be some references since the whole reason for having 7 books, is because you spend 7 years in Hogwarts.

I think harry will ditch school for that year and go searching for the horcruxes. Hermione and ron will go with him because their his friends.I think hogwarts will be in the book for a bit probably the starting or something. This is what i think!

Idk. I have been wondering the same thing. It sounds as if he is done with Hogwartz. I mean, what is left for him there? I would like to see him finish his seventh year, but I don't know how she (JK Rowling) is going to finish the series. The way it is worded, it seems as if he is NOT going back to Hogwartz. and it also sounds as if Ron and Hermoine are going to join him. I can't wait for the book to come out! So many questions, so little answers... ~

well...in half-blood prince, harry said he's not going back to hogwarts even if it reopens. so, yes, there may not be much of hogwarts in the next book although it'll be mentioned i believe!!

I think the school will open but i think much of the book won't take place at hogwarts because he is looking for the horcruxes.

Harry said he's not going back to Hogwarts even if it is open. There's speculation that Hpgwarts won't even reopen.

i think the answer will be yes. since, the two horcruxes might belong to ravenclaw or gryffindor locket, the story may revolve around the school.

That's debatable, I personally don't think he's going back to Hogwarts, but I could be wrong.
