i would go into a class room and give them a math test without bribing them. then i would give them almost the exact test but with different nmjbers and would say if they got an a in the test then they would get 2 clices of pizza. then i would see if there was an improvement in both the tests.

You should not test the same group twice.
You should use a large collection of students and divide them into two (roughly) equal [in terms of numbers as well as other influencing factors] groups and keep them separate.
Ideally, more than 1 trial would be good two, using new students each time.

To one group, give them the test and make sure to tell them that, no matter what the results are, it will not effect them in any way.

To the second group, instruct them that if they achieve a score of at least ____ then they will receive _____.
You need to provide them with a reward which they will care about, be it pIzza or something else.

It really depends on the atmosphere you teach in.

Obviously, a nice private or upper class public school in the suburb somewhere will have a more conducive atmosphere to scholarly work, and parents will encourage better grades and better behavior in general. This means that students will probably take the test more seriously than oh say..

A school in the center of the ghetto where something "cool" and rebellious like getting pizza during class would be more of a motivator than simply doing good in class.

Sure, just make sure you spell "slices" correctly when you present it to them.
