Salt on slugs will also kill your plants. The beer idea works. I have used slug bait before I started my WAL-MART ban. They will eat, eat, eat, and then they have gotten into my house. You haven't had fun until you walk into the kitchen at 2 in the morning and stepped on one of those little slimy things. YUCK!!!!!
I didn't have a problem with them until a lady in our neighborhood advised me to use all of our veggie scraps and egg shells in the flower bed for mulch. Undoubtedly slugs love her!!!

Slugs have no shell but are very slimy and leave a trail that you can follow. They like to eat and do a lot of damage to your plants. If it has a shell, it is a snail which is a cousin to the slug. It has the same appetite and best to get rid of them unless you just like them a lot and want more. To get rid of slugs you can either put some beer in a small dish that is left out for them at night so they will drown in it or put some salt directly on them which will kill them. There are also some poisons for them and baits of various kinds you can use.

never seen that, but they do the same damage probably as any other slug, look under potted plants, alot of times they will colonize under plants and start eating in the roots.
