6 weeks is very early, so it may be hard to see.

I had an early transvaginal ultrasound with my first son at 6 weeks, and they saw a yolk sac, but no fetal pole, and no heartbeat. The dr. scheduled another u/s a week later, and there he was! (heartbeat and all)

I didn't actually hear the heartbeat with either of my babies until around 11 - 12 weeks. It all depends on how large the baby is, where in the uterus he's located, etc.

The only way to see the heartbeat at 6 weeks is with an internal ultrasound

Hi, your due date can be wrong as well. i went for an ultrasound (internal) at 7 weeks, and they couldn't find anything at all. I went the week after, and they found the embryo and the heartbeat. It turns out that they were a week off. Don't be discouraged. Usually around 8 weeks, you will see hear something via internal ultrasound! Good luck and Congrats!

My doctor was able to find my baby's heartbeat at 9 weeks using a handheld doppler.

I think 6 weeks is a little early, though. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Most doctors won't do a sonogram until at least 9 - 10 weeks. Have you been to your doctor? You're using a midwife I see... are you sure she has experience? You may want to consult with a OBGYN so that you can be sure everything is going smoothly.

They should look at your baby on screen. I was bleeding twice at the start of my pregnancy and both times they sent me to emergencies to get him looked at. They could see his heart beating on the screen so they send me back home.
