My sister found out that she is having a baby girl today. She is due in December. Can some one give us some nice, unique girl names please?

Choosing a name is difficult. You are giving this new person a name that they will have for the rest of their life so choose carefully.

My daughter is 12 1/2 months old. I stayed with selecting very traditional names and names that had some family history. My daughter, Emma is named after her grandmother and great great grandmother on my husbands side and her great great great grandmother on my side of the family. My niece who is 11 1/2 months old got a more unique name, Brayah. Here are some other names that my sister considered:

McKenna
Slone
Rayleigh

Here are some of the names I had on my list:

Clair
Josephine
Alexandra
Posey
Gwendolyn
Dunnell (my grandmother's maiden name)

Just remember to choose a name you like, that goes well with your surname and that the initials don't spell something rude.

Congrats!

Also, call your local library and try these books out:

Unusual and most popular baby names.
by Evans, Cleveland Kent, Ph.D.

The perfect name : a step-by-step guide to naming your baby
by Cox, Jeanine.

Baby names day by day
by Zia, Stephanie.

The secret universe of names : the dynamic interplay of names and destiny
by Feinson, Roy.

Baby names for dummies
by Rose, Margaret.

And here's a prayer that your sister will have a healthy, happy baby girl in December.

D.D.

PS Pay attention to small details do not saddle your child with a name that can cause riddicule. Look at what their initials spell, i.e. My sister was going to name her daughter Autumn Summer Steves (bad idea)

I like the name Ellie which is actulaly my sisters name. it may be becoming more common tho??

How about a Japanese name like Fuyuko, meaning
winter child, because your sisters baby is due in December!!
or the name Ai. very simple, meaning love

You can make that longer by sticking ko on the end. Ko means child, so Aiko, means Love child.

Of course, Japanese names may not appeal so much, hey?
Other nice unique names...Petina or Petra

Marie, pronounced Maaaa-ree.

hmm...Kaori, meaning fragrance in Japanese.
Cant get enough ot these pretty Japanese names.

Momoko (peach child), Hisako (forever child)

Sayuri, Reika, Mariko, Mari, Eri, Eriko,

Natsuko-summer child
haruko-spring child
Akiko-autumn child

Flower names are also rather unusual I think...
Rose, Lilly (someone already mentioned this one!), Violet.
Daffodil.

Some people likes flower names, others dont!!

Here are some more. I know some Indian names...

Zainab, Ayasha (Ai-shaa), Roshni, Neelam, Ambika, Sabrina,
Monisha, Tina, Mona

Chinese names...
Wai-ki, Wai-o, Ting Pin, Mei Tze (zee)

Hope this is useful!! I love talking about names, especially girls names. They are really pretty!! I think ones with meanins makes hte name more interesting.
Pls. let us know which name u like the best!!

I was never lucky enough to have a little girl, I have 3 boys. I always wanted to call my little girl Rowan, I heard a story years ago about Arthur and the round table and a girl called Rowan wanted to be one of the knights but because she was a girl she couldn't be but she fought and fought until Arthur made her an honerary knight. I thought the name might have made my little girl have a good wilful personality.

Don't choose anything too whacky - the child has to live with it all her life! Get yourself a baby-name dictionary and look up the meaning of the names you're tempted by. Is there a name of a deceased grandparent who meant something to you? Its nice to keep a heritage of family names.
P.S. Don't choose AMELIA. Medically speaking it means 'without limbs.'
