To be honest you are trying to compare "APPLES" with "Peaches". But in my opinion as a complete player i would have to say that Crespo is a better player. If you watched the World Cup in Germany carefully you would have noticed that Carlos cost Brazil the game against France as he should have been marking Henry when he scored the goal. Check the replay.

They're both great players but with different styles. Roberto Carlos is one of the best defensemen you'll see but i feel that recently he got a little cocky. HIs curve off his kick is incredible though. Crespo is a more recent player younger and prob more agile. At this point in time he might be better than Roberto Carlos because he's newer to the game and fights more. On the other hand Roberto Carlos is more expirienced.

Crespo, of course.
Roberto Carlos often plays himself out of position (attacking too much and leaving gap in the left back position)

ROberto Carlos is a great defender who has pace and can shoot a formidible shot. HE made his name with that dream freekick which seemed to almost curl one way then curl the other. IT WAS GREAT ! Carlos is gettin old now and i think he is out of his prime. but still a great player.Crespo is an attacker, who i agree is under-rated, but if they were both at their prime, i beleive Carlos is the better player overrall.

i think crespo is underrated....hes played on the argentina team for a while and hes been stuck in batistuta's shadow. hes an incredible player and one of argentina's best. i think in general hes better than roberto carlos (who i think is too aggressive and plays a little dirty).
