OMG, can you all believe this nation? They say we are so dependant on foreign oil, but when OUR own fields go out of service, the price skyrockets. Then you can be at a gas station one day, with the refueling truck there, and gas is set at 3 bucks, then 3 days later, the gas shoots up to 3.50. That gas in the ground is ALREADY paid for at the 3 dollar rate. We americans have to do something. But what? I get these stupid emails all the time telling me there is going to be a day where no american should purchase fuel and that would cripple the oil companies. But gimme a break. It is impossible to organize such a thing and get everyone to participate. And would it even be effective? Do you think gas prices will decrease someday, or is this our future, americans adding a fuel portion to their budget? I have never budgeted for fuel in my life, but i think I have to start. It's sad!

I agree no one ever does the great american no buy gas day. The last one said they weren't going to buy gas AND not go to work. Did it happen? Nooo.... so that idea is pointless. What I do and they notice this...is don't go out. Resturants like Chili's, Applebee's and TGIF have notice a drop in customers. Some retail stores are noticing it too. Therefore the frequent "good" sales. And they even notice people are staying home for major holidays!! Which hurts the tourism economy. Eventually the raising of gas prices will hurt the nation. The less people go out to have a good time the more the economy hurt. If we spend less time shopping and going out maybe the "Bigger" companies will ***** with us. That the raising gas prices is not only hurting us but them. So my suggestion...less shopping, only get things you NEED, less going out..(box offices would hurt then maybe Hollywood will be on our side) and closer vacation spots. Lets see if this will work...but we still have that one little problem..thats getting everyone to do it.

I think we should all boycott gas for a day. But noone would participate. too many people think they are above what everyone else thinks, and that things dont apply to them. Thats why our country is in the shape it is now. We the people should be and could be in control. But noone will do what is neccisary. Lets just sit back and be screwed by anyone who wants to screw us. I would at least like a good reason for why the price of gas is what it is. Katrina was a year ago. Guess they saw we the people would pay anything for it at that time, and just keep the price there. I'll stop now.

The price of gas will never go down guys... Between inflation and the increase in the world demand for oil, we will all see gas continually go up. You Americans should consider yourselves lucky!! In Europe prices for fuel are around $12/gal and even here is canada we are paying andwhere from $4.60 to $6.00 a Gal.... *sigh*

Not buying gas for one day will do nothing if you still use the same amount of gas.

Organizing a no drive day where noone drives for the entire day would definately send a message though. But good luck organizing one...

we will need to try to drive less unless we are rich and can afford the high gas prices which right now I do see them dropping because the wars in the oil supply areas. and all of the oil rigs are not back up to full operation in the gulf yet from hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it, so buy a bike.
