My car had hiccups specially wen in low gear, i took it to a mechanic who looked under the bonnet whilst i reved it then told me to bring it in on monday (this was friday) i told him i didnt wanna break down on the freeway over the weekend, he assured me i wouldnt, i took it in and it was fixed in a few hours. Im happy with that and happy to pay him the $80 but he refuses to tell me what was wrong with it?? just keeps saying ' oh it was my magic touch etc" im happy to pay even if it was a simple thing but wats his game?

First off- that is one shaddy mechanic! I wouldn't provide him with anymore business.

The problem you describe sounds like a fuel issue. I'm not sure exactly what (I'd need to see it) But it sound like your fuel either wasn't being burned or delievered properly.

It was plug wire or rotor related. More than likely it was the pickup sensor on the rotor that tells the computer to adjust fuel air mixture. Kind of puts the timing off and makes it sputter when you put your foot into it.

In the future I would go to a other mechanic. Your problem might have been as simple as a vacuum line that got unplugged. It is unprofessional that he would not tell you the problem.
