That is very simple, you answered yourself. It is gross when people leave dishes in the sink for more than 1 day. My sisters do the same, and because of that they have roaches and I hate going to visit them. I totally see where you are coming from. I also had roomates that used to do that, so after a couple of days, when they don't do the dishes, I would put the plates and pots on their bed. It motivated them to clean after themselves.

At my house, my mom is a lazy bum. I'm not kidding you. If I don't do the dishes, they will sit there, and sit there, and sit there... Until I finally give in and do them. I once did an experiment to see how long it would take for my mom to do the dishes herself. On Friday morning, there were some dishes left over from Thursday. I didn't touch them, but worked around them to clean up from myself. Friday night, the dishes are still there, with more. Saturday morning... Same thing, but more. Sunday.. Monday... On Monday night, I finally did them because I was having some friends over...

It's discusting. I try and do the dishes ASAP. Like last night, I did a bunch of cooking. I let the pots/pans sit for around three hours before I did them. But I never would let the dishes just pile up like my mother does. It's discusting.

Oh, by the way, I'm 18. My mother's 50 (gasp). But yeah, she's a slob. Can't wait to get out of here for college.

I'm with you-I wash as soon as they are dirty, especially when I'm cooking. It keeps me from having to do a ton of cleaning right after & I can take my time eating.

I never figured out why people wait until the sink is full-you just have to empty it out to run the water and wash them or rinse them for the dishwasher.

well it depends if you have company or not, then you should wait or at least have the ladies and men gather in the kitchen for conversation..I always wash the dishes as soon as they hit the sink-matter of fact i dont even wait until they hit the sink before i am grabbing them from them...there is no set time on when to do dishes its all up to you...but if you like to sit down and enjoy life as i do then i dont wait and i think you are doing a great job..thats my answer...and some wait and wonder what that smell is coming from adn theres mold everywhere well .....

What i do is place a dish in the sink and then just force some water on top of it. I continue until it is full and then washing them becomes easier, as because of the previous water its easier to scrub or whatever.

I never wash the dishes, I let them lie about. The purpose of mold is to biologically cleanse things over time. I don't want to wash away food on a plate that a bacteria, cockroach, or other fellow living thing on this planet my find useful or even nourishing for survival.

But, obviously, my house would be infested if I did this, so let's say I buy a lot of "take out."

i wash my dishes as soon as it get dirty. I put hot water in the sink when i am cooking and wash it as i go, so that there is not many dishes to wash later on. it is easier so that it will not have dried foods stuck ed as it is hard to scrub off.

No - I wait till I have enough to justify a sink full of hot water - bit more economical that way I guess - pleus means I don't have to wash up as ofter.

I wash my dishes as I am cooking my meal. Then after I eat, the rest are cleaned. It's just so much easier that way and I don't have to look at the mess.
