The slit is obvious - but can't imagine using it - but why do you think they design all briefs that way?

it's actually not that obvious - the pouch isn't convenient to "holding" anything

it's for their fruit basket.

support mostly, well so they claim.

mostly no matter what the guy's store is still in danger of damage sustained from the earth's gravity and well feet, balls, dogs...

whatever... watch that junk down there...

That's why it's called "men's / boys under-ware"! It almost always is designed and sold with room for the wearers maleness. Even femininely designed panties for men have that ( ball-room ) built into them.

That always makes me wonder about boy-cut undies for girls.....
