Thank you to everyone who offered Italian baby name suggestions. My big sis. likes Marcellina a lot. (but she does change her mind....she says its the hormones)

So: I've done some research, and I know Marcellina was the name of a Roman saint, etc. & it is Italian, but also I know a couple Hispanic people w/ this name. (not that there's anything wrong w/ that, it's just she wants it to be very Italian)

My question is: when you hear the name Marcellina, do you think Italian or Spanish first? Thank you very very much!!

It's definately Italian. Some Spanish speakers may use it as a name because of the Catholic St. Marcellina.

Actually it sounds like a Portuguese variation of an Italian name. It was common for them to introduce an additional word cell or letter to many of their terms and names.

I think of Italian. It sounds like a brand name for a pasta or spaghetti sauce. Good Luck.
