The middle east is destabilized by the acts and presence of Israel. The Arabs do not have enough or modern weapons as the Israelis have and this is due to the single superpower in the world nowadays which is the US. The Oil will dry out when the consumption of the west will increase and the consumption of countries like Japan relies totally on the Middle East. As for the money they are not free to use it as they wish because it is deposited in Western banks and organizations and most of it invested in the west. So these matters can be stopped at once without waiting for the Oil to dry out. As for the weapons buying is controlled by producing countries, and use is a matter of culture and technology that the West does not allow the Arabs to have control on it.

No. It does not matter when oil runs out. The oil rich states have been receiving inward flows of cash for 30 years and have wisely used it to invest in a vast range of projects worldwide that will guarantee a continued inflow of money for generations. All countries and regimes will also invest in self-protection and the rich states will always buy the latest weapons technology for their armed forces. It is not weapons that stabilise regions. It is a desire to collaborate with one's neighbours. History shows this in the 19th century border disputes between Canada and the USA and Mexico and the USA. It shows in the desire of Europeans after the Second World War to try to end the wars that have raged over their continent for a thousand years. Within 25 years they had integrated into the European Community and in 50 years into the European Union. The United Nations was set up to do the same, but it does not work well because of the lack of collaborative desire of some of its more powerful members. Sorry to be so negative, but stability does not require money or weapons but the will to live together. Firstly, they should try harmony as with the European Common Market from 1956, and then try to achieve unity as with the EU today.

...the sad true is that for some reason some of the followers of Islam (and other religions too, but talking about mid east now) can be very violent when you don't agree with their beliefs. Truth is there are great Muslim people as they have their bad people. The problem is, just like the Catholic Church was ruled by the wrong people of that religion during the mid ages it seems the wrong people are leading this religion now. History repeats itself, a few hundred years ago it was called the crusades and now it's Jihad by the sword.
The point of my answer being that as long as countries in the middle east such as Syria, Iran and Lebanon are controlled( or majorly influenced) by extremist...there won't be peace. Whether they have oil or not will only determine how much attention the world pays to their conflicts.
And another thing to that narrowminded guy who said as soon as Israel leaves there will be peace, The middle east has been in turmoil and violence far before the jews united in Israel.

Contrary the middle east might stabilise if the weapon producing countries (especially USA) ran out of fund & stopped producing arms.

Good news: yes to your point, and the US and Canada will be sitting on the biggest oil shale and tar sands deposits in the world.
Bad news: these oil sources are only economically viable at around $100 per barrel.
