I would recommend taking a science because psychiatry is different from psychology in the extent that psychiatrists have a medical background psychologists don't. I think if you qualify to be a psychiatrist the you would need some science background-probably biology as the field requires some knowledge of this.

If you want to become a psychiatrist, most important is an understanding and love of people. A good psychiatrist can empathise, analyse, and be non-judgemental and detached.

You will need to be able to identify recognised conditions, but be open minded to the causes. You will also need to decide what type of psychiatrist you want to be as there are many ways of looking at the human mind.

Yes. psychology is a science, and psychiatry is a medical science. To be a psychiatrist, you need a medical degree.

Basic science classes teach things like the scientific method and other things that will prepare you for future, more specialized classes.

Of course, Psychiatry is not only a Science but a medical degree so you need to have the basics in order to advance. And to get into med school you need to have taken and done well in a broad range of science courses.

I think so, a psychiatrist is also an MD because they can prescribe medication. Being an MD requires taking medical science courses which probably have basic science as a pre-requisite.

I think you shouldn't have dropped English.

PSYCHRIST
- if that supposed to mean "psychiatrist", then you will need science because to become a psychiatrist you need a degree in medicine (physchiatrists can prescribe medicines and have to have the training).
- if you mean psychologist, then no you do not have to.

But most importantly, consider taking English as it helps for application forms.

If you mean psychiatrist, yes. Psychologist, not so important. First you better figure out which one it is and how to spell it, worry about the classes you'll need to take later.
