No. I believe they are called the silent majority. We will see if americans have changed much in the last 6 years. My guess is no, and balance will be restored to government. So it has always been, the voters vaccillate between perties every few years, showing how middle of the road most americans are. Unfortunately, it is the squeaky wheel that gets the grease, so together, as moderates, you and I shall continue to be vocal, and fight the good fight!

Progressive and democrat are mutually exclusive - if you are progressive, why support regressive taxation policies and failed social experimentation? Liberals try out all kinds of labels trying to hide from being known as liberals - why not just stick with calling yourself a liberal and be done with it. Everyone already knows that you are stupid, closed minded, intolerant and incapable of independent thought...

Moderates like to think of themselves as being open minded and compromising, when in reality they don't stand for anything and they just want to fade into the background and not be accused of being on record for or against anything...

I don't think that moderates are disappearing, the others are just getting more press. We are in a society where the person that yells the loudest, does the greatest insulting, and who is the flashiest is who people believe, hate, or watch. Call it the effects of Reality TV. Call it the PC backlash. We no longer look for candidates, we look for whoever can 'burn' the other party or other person and movie stars.

It has been contibuted to Bush's war at any cost stance and the religion nuts taking over the Republican party.

That and the irrationalAmerican right-wing indoctrination that all Democrats and all liberals are unspeakably bad. It's a cover for what hideous things the god crowd is doing.

Moderates are not going away. They represent an attempt by most parties to garner additional undecided votes. While a few candidates have been challenged in their loyalty to their party, the moderate is here and is here to stay.

My opinion is that is about time. Moderates have been consistenly voting thier concious, for at least a decade in the democratic side at least ,hence thier lack of actual voters. In todays politics .....they all seem to be replubicrats, and ,demicans....who can tell....they want our money.....and still have no real reforms............no real fixes......all about goverment ....for the pockets,by the pockets, and until those pockets are full....shall we govern

No, it is just about their stance on the war.
When this gets under some type of control then moderates will come back.

I think it's alot of hype by the media, and we all know by now which way they lean. I don't think that Lieberman is doing as badly as the "polls" claim.
