You can hear the fetus' heartbeat as early as 6 weeks, but only by ultrasound. By doppler it could be anytime between 10-12 weeks that you would be able to hear it. My girlfriend went in and didn't hear it at 14 weeks and they gave her an immediate ultrasound and the baby was still fine, the doctor just didn't find the heartbeat with the doppler.
I wouldn't worry at all, you are totally in acceptable range!
Congratulations and enjoy this time, it is way more uncomfortable when your belly gets big.

Hi Sweety. I don't know how far you are, so I can't answer that part of the question. I do know, the usual time is anywhere between 11 and 13 weeks. Depending on the body of the mum, depends upon when you can hear it, as well as the position of the baby in the uterus. If you can 'see' the heart beating, I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to hear it. They can be stubbor little tikes and get into spots where there is just no reception!! You know, like a cell phone!!!! They often hide behing the pubic bone and just don't want to play!!! Even when the babies are over the 30 week mark, it is sometimes hard to get a heart beat, as like I said, they may not want to play. My son would never lie so they could hear his, it was always a real chore getting hearing him on the audio. If you are really concerned, please ring the doctor, or local medical centre where there maybe someone who can calm your fears for you. Remember, the last thing your bub needs is a hypo mum. You must stay as calm and rested as you can, so bubby in turn comes out calm and rested and behaves for you. I hope everything turns out great for you and the little bub is fine. Regards. Helen :-)

If you have an ultrasound you can see the heart beating as early as 6 weeks but you cannot hear anything.
(you can see a flickering) If there is no heart beat in the ultrasound those first weeks than you will have a misscariage.
But you can actually hear the heartbeat with the Doppler not earlier than week 11 or 12 or sometimes a week later. That depends on the position and the instrument.
After that you can hear it stronger and stronger
So both doctors are right.

The embryonic heart starts beating 22 days after conception, or about five weeks after the last menstrual period, which by convention we call the fifth week of pregnancy. The heart at this stage is too small to hear, even with amplification, but it can sometimes be seen as a flickering in the chest if an ultrasound is done as early as four weeks after conception.
After the 9th or 10th week after your last menstrual period, you might be able to hear your baby's heartbeat at your prenatal appointment.
By the 12th week, the heartbeat can usually be heard consistently, using the Doppler instrument for amplification.

no , worrying is the last thing you should do , in fact alot of times the baby may be in a position where that the ob . may not be able to find the heart beat due to the positioning of the fetus. i had that a few times also . and i think the earliest you can hear a heart beat is 5 - 6 weeks or as soon as the heart starts beating, and i dont think there is a " too late of time " .

It depends on what kind of machine they are using. With ultra sound the baby's heart beat can be heard as early as 6 weeks (I did with my son) and with the little hand held Doppler machines it can be 11 weeks or later. My doctor had a hard time at 14 weeks with the baby I am pregnant with now using the doppler

I heard it at around 9 - 10 weeks, but it was really hard to find and we didn't get to hear it long because the baby moves so much.
I wouldn't expect to get a good clear heartbeat until around 12-13 weeks.

The heart starts beating around the 5th week, but is too small to hear. Around the 9th or 10 week is the usual time you can hear the heartbeat with a stethoscope.

The first time we heard it was around 12 weeks. At six weeks, the fetus is still SO small. I wouldn't worry if you didn't hear it.
We had our first ultrasound at 7 weeks, and we could see the heart beating, but we couldn't hear it on the doppler.

I didn't hear mine until 16 weeks. I did see the heartbeat at 5 weeks through an internal ultrasound. I was on clomid, so they were seeing how many babies were in there...thank god it was only 1!!
