The Rhythm Method, also known as the Calendar Method or the Knaus-Ogino Method (named after Hermann Knaus and Kyusaku Ogino), is a method of natural birth control that involves counting days of a woman's menstrual cycle in order to achieve or avoid pregnancy.
A recently developed variant of the Rhythm Method is known as the Standard Days Method. Developed by Georgetown University's Institute for Reproductive Health, the Standard Days Method has a simpler rule set and is more effective than Rhythm. A product, called CycleBeads, was developed along side the method to help a user keep track of high and low fertility points during a menstrual cycle.
The Rhythm Method is sometimes considered a form of fertility awareness. However, modern techniques of fertility awareness generally rely on several physiological signs of fertility, rather than a simple counting of days. Because of its lower accuracy, many fertility awareness teachers consider calendar rhythm to have been obsolete for at least 20 years. At one time, the Rhythm Method was promoted as an acceptable form of natural family planning by the Catholic Church, although, as in the fertility awareness community, more modern methods are being advocated by the church today

it generally does no longer artwork. It means an excellent sort of dedication and is amazingly tedious. a pair can in hassle-free terms have intercourse for the time of particular days of the month, and that's problematic to pin-element those top days. additionally, youth can not administration the intense sexual stress that develops and that they throw warning to the winds. finally, no one ever tells you that a woman who's amazingly waiting for intercourse can develop into pregnant no count number if or no longer it somewhat is the "top time". Why? because of the fact she would be able to launch an egg which will return and forth down very quickly into the tubes, the place it may then be impregnated. a minimum of, why no longer use condoms, and what's incorrect with beginning administration pills? isn't it greater proper to develop into pregnant whilst all is waiting for the new child? or to have one new child after yet another basically to fulfill a church theology.

NFP is not using any form of birth control, but timing sex around days you are NOT ovulating to prevent conception.
For it to be effective, you get about one week out of the month you can have sex (since you can ovulate anywhere from the 9th-16th day of your cycle).
I'm not sure what percentage it has in terms of effectiveness, but I don't know many men willing to only have sex one week out of the month...

Basically a woman is fertile 100-120 hours/month...like a window of fertility.
the window can only be estimated (estimated though with high probability). To determine the window of fertility, these methods use such things as temperature, mucus, and cervical changes.
Its probably about as effective as you are careful about it.

natural family planning is the type of family planning that DOES not involve any type of birth control or contraception...the planned pregnancy is based upon when the woman is MOST fertile...most people that are 30somethings were conceived in that fashion...

Also referred to as the rhythm method, it means you calculate when you are likely to be ovulating and you dont have intercourse in that part of your cycle. Unfortunately its not that reliable as your ovulation dates may change from month to month!
