why is there such blatant discrimination towards sex workers? It's an industry...where it's legalised, taxes are paid...where it's illegal..it still provides a valuable service to lonely people

Religon, basically. Morals. Funny thing is, most people how grip about it, are into it's services in one way or another.

Because for every one sex-worker who is in control of her career and earning good money doing what she wants to do from her own free choice, there are 100s and 100s who are being abused and exploited, paid a pittance, and having their lives ruined. Most porn actresses are not 'stars'. They earn a little money out of doing increasingly dangerous and degrading acts as porn gets more and more extreme. They suffer from medical problems (hmmm..double incontinence and prolapse is pretty much a guaranteed result for all of the women doing the double penetration etc that has almost become the norm these days), they don't earn a lot, and as they get older and less attractive they slide down the scale and end up having to do the really sicko stuff. Out of sheer desperation. After this, how can you go and get a normal job? It's about people with power taking advantage of young, desperate, often drug addicted/trafficked women. There's a big market for niche films, including 'granny sex' films. Would you think your granny was brave and smart if she started making porn films? IOr how abour your sister - is it a career you would recommend to her? Your girlfriend? Do you want to see her having sex with 3 men in a movie and think 'well done darling, how much did you earn?'

It is strictly a religious issue. I'll tell you, those who do survive WW III here in the US will have it much better off, this coming war is going to be the last straw for allowing the Christians to have such sway on civic life. This will be especially true when, after the radioactive smoke clears over seven to eight dead US cities, Jesus Christ has still not come back to rescue them from the hell they created on this earth. Sorry to sound so blatant anti-Christian, but we are being driven to Armageddon as if what we do will influences God's decisions, if there is a single monotheistic Christian God at all.

I don't discriminate against them. They provide a service. They fullfill most fantasies that most wifes/girlsfriends won't. They should be taxed, and get health cards, and make an honest living out of this. It's a moral issue with the religious right.

Probably because of other peoples perception of morality and religion.

I personally pity sex workers. Statistically, an extremely high number of sex workers have been sexually abused or raped in their lifetimes, prior to becoming sex workers. It's something to consider.

And it doesn't provide a valuable service to lonely people, it's the exploitation of women and their bodies.

The greatest hypocrisy of our times.

Whenever anyone wants to curse a woman, they call her a W*ore. And whenever they are in need of relief, they think of getting the services of one.

There is an organization called COYOTE that stands up for this much-maligned group, though: COYOTE ("Call Off Your Tired Ethics") was founded by Margo St. James in 1973. COYOTE works for the rights of all sex workers: strippers, phone operators, prostitutes, porn actresses etc. of all genders and persuasions.

ppl are yet to come to term with work that "pays"specially so one that u enjoy do,and get paid for it.well at least some of them maybe enjoy having sex,and get paid as well, and the public are yet to get used to the idea of "payment"maybe for these ppl,the best thing in life are "Free"however,if not for these sex workers, and those "bimbos"who do it for free,or even support gigolos, the rate of rape.would have gone "up"so .blessed be these ladies, cos they risk their health and lives sometimes for peanuts, and as for those "fake puritanical",if they do judge and condemn those gals, they should also condemn those others.who do it for free, and spoil those men, into believe, that all women.suppose to be FREE AND EASY.

because many people consider it to be dirty and offensive. They probably think that most are disease ridden and unable to get a "real" job.
