Probably The Soft Bulletin for sheer consistency, which is something the Flips have suffered with in albums prior to this. Clouds Taste Metallic has some great moments and is worth having soley for Lightning Strikes The Postman. Transmissions... is another great album but again, goes off the boil in places. I wouldn't go back any further than Hit To Death... though, there are a few moments but those early albums are not really any good.

I've only recently come across this band but they've been a revelation to me. It think Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is a polyphonic masterpiece, magical and full of beauty. It really was the most creative thing to come out of the USA in 2002 and was voted by many in the UK as being the Muso's choice.

Still The Soft Bulletin. Consistent all the way through, and it was the one that introduced me to them. Although my favourite song is now the Yeah Yeah Yeah song. It's so clever, how they say "yes" to what you're supposed to say "no" to and vic versa. Did you see them on Jools Holland with all the aliens nodding along? Genius!
