This is a great question. You know Yoko Ono, John Lennon's widow? She's in her early 70s and still walks around in the summer wearing tank tops and skin-tight black jeans! It's all about the occasion, your attitude and your body type. If you're fit and look and act young, dress young! That said, of course if you're going someplace where people are going to be more modestly dressed, like a wedding or a funeral, then you have to make allowances for that and not try to stand out. But if you're going out during the weekend or at night, there's nothing wrong with wearing something revealing or trendy, as long as you feel comfortable in it and you look good in it. If you live in a very conservative neighborhood, you can't really care what people think, as long as you're tasteful and appropriate.

I'd stay away from anything that bares a lot of skin. You don't want people to think you are putting yourself on display. Also, nothing skin-tight. As great as you may look, you shouldn't be competing with the twenty year olds. Nothing that you can't wear a bra with. Gravity works and our bodies are proof, especially after kids!
Try for knee length skirts and dress, pants, jeans that sit at the waist or just below - no low rise. My MIL is 62, and she dresses great. Very hip, but she doesn't show skin either. Wear what you like and are comfortable in. Keep in mind if you care what other people think of you or not. If you don't want the comments, try to stay away from stores like Deb, Joyce Leslie, Hot Topic, Urban Outfitters. The stores that sell teen clothing. Instead, look at Victoria's Secret, Talbot's, Ann Taylor, Chico's, Christopher Banks, Cato. The stores that sell "grown-up" fashionable clothing. Try local department stores, JcPenney, Macy's, Belk, Boscov's, whatever you have. Look in the Missy's section, stay away from Junior's.
If you are someone that doesn't care what people think, I guess you wouldn't be asking questions here.
If you still have no clue, go shopping and ask the sales girls about suggestions. They can usually help you find clothing that you want. Hip, trendy, but still mature. Not too revealing, but still attractive. It's a fine line. Think polished and sophisticated .
Think about celeberities that you admire, use them as a basis. Look through magazines and catalogs. I'm sure you'll find something that you like. Take the pictures with you when you go shopping. Show it to the sales girl and ask if they have anything like that.
Good Luck!

Carole, I'm 52 and I've seen some pretty bad things lately. Like at the Publix in Florida last week, tiny grannie wearing short shorts (daisy duke like) and a spaghetti strap clingy top. NOT!!!! First of all watch where you shop. Stay away from the 'junior' areas in department stores, and other places where you see lots of teens, young folks, etc. Don't wear shirts that have sayings on them, no matter how funny (or sexy) you think they are. Shop in the 'women's' section of stores. Your better department stores have consultants that can assist you in selection. I assume you have a tiny frame, good for you. But at 62 (even me at 52 and when I was 42 and 32), be dignified. Our teen days are long gone honey.

A few weeks ago I would have said "nothing too revealing, made for a twenty year old", but on the beach the other day I started talking to a 70-something woman who was wearing a bright multicolored bikini and looked GREAT in it. It's not even that she was still buff or still had a great body, she just totally owned it. She was fabulous! So now I say, wear whatever you think looks good, and whatever you feel comfortable in. Have fun with your clothes!
