I ahve moved into a period house with what I think are handmade kitchen cupboards and shelves in unfinished (unvarnished and unpainted) pine. There is also a solid fuel Aga in the kitchen and ineffective extractor fan. There is a lot of grease and dirt that has settled in the grooves and details of the wood on the cupboard doors etc. It is now quite solid and difficult to clean. Has anyone got any suggestions how to remove the grease and dirt without scratching or damaging the soft wood?

i cleaned some grubby wood with soapy wood cleaner by pledge......
also sticky stuff remover ,either kleenezee catalogue or lakelandlimited.co.uk, is great for those bits like the top of cupboards that are really oily/greasy/yucky.

Have you thought about hiring a hot high pressure jet gun to do it. Taking the doors off first obviously. Drying off after.
