I Stole A Buffalo before too .. and i kept on feeding him .. but he was very hungry so i let him go because he tried to eat me .. so tell your friends that he must watch out for that because .. cows arent any better Than buffalos espicially if both of them were stolen ...
( I Thought i stole it and i was a thief but in reality ... its owner wanted to get rid of it .. so maybe the owner of the cow had the same idea )

I live on a ranch in a ranching community where there are a LOT of cattle, and belive me what this person did was steal money from someone else. Cattle are someone's source of income and stealing income is wrong. There's not a lot of money in ranching to begin with; but a LOT of expense.
Now, as for feeding apples and grass - if the grass is someone's lawn clippings, the cow will probably become extremely sick and possibly become bloated as the lawn clippings decompose. Cattle die from bloat unless treated properly by a vet. I can't imagine that there is much in the way of grass growing under a deck, so the cow isn't getting the proper nutrition. Apples are a treat, but not on the recommended list of food for a cow. The cow needs the fiber from pasture grass for digestion.
A cow is a grazing animal and needs to be allowed to move and eat continually all day - without the exercise and continual eating, it will eventually become sick.
Try to convince your friend to return the cow. If it should become ill or die then what's your friend going to do with a dead bovine under the deck?

No because when a cow eats the combination of grass and apples together it releases a chemical called hydrophindirotiocide that causes deterbinacation in each of the cows 5 stomaches, this can lead to serious dehydration and dizziness for the cow as well what humans call the "flu". To reverse these symtoms you must feed the cow dyrophill which is found in bananas, daisies, oak tree bark, aged tomatoes or beetle shells (which are sometimes hard to get enough of to feed a cow). Don't over feed and don't leave him out in the sun in any temperature higher than 95 degrees for an extensive amount of time and give it lots of water.

cows need better nutrience than that, make sure it gets plenty of water, and a balanced diet with grains such as corn, oats and hay. If you give it too many apples that will make it sick...
oh yeah and stealing a cow is wrong
