Even though the product was SPF 30 and water resistant, you should still reapply it every hour. It sound as if you the have the beginnings of a sunburn. Get an aloe leaf (fruit/vegetable section) from the supermarket. Apply the aloe gel to the affected areas until you feel relief. As for the complexion you have obtained...It will fade in a couple of days/weeks.

Sounds like you may have sun damage as well, one of the best things you can do is apply a medicated, cooling aloe vera gel (found at most supermarkets and / or pharmacies - I know there's one at Walmart). Apply it several times daily on the inflamed areas, alternating with a cold compress for 10-15 minutes at a time.

Once it has healed (and is not itchy or painful), apply vitamin E capsules and Cocoa Butter after showering or bathing to soften any roughened skin. Exfoliate the area once a week with a loofah or body scrub.

Also, a daily multivitamin, plenty of water and exercise, along with healthy eating habits are all good for the skin. Here are some additional vitamins that are good for the skin (be sure not to go over the recommended dosages): http://healing.about.com/library/uc_acne_0209c.htm.

If you aren't already, use a high SPF that is waterproof and sweatproof.

Get yourself a body exfoliator with salts in it. Sloughing off the dead skin will fade your tan.
