I got a gift bag filled with these things:

Stage 1 baby food
Rice cereal
Baby spoons
Sippy cups
Snack cups with lids

I was so thankful for that because babies grow up so fast...I had everything I needed when it was time to start introducing solids.

Diaper Genie: Poo Smells bad even when enclosed in a plastic capsule with fragranced liners......we simply took the garbage out three times a day!! Diaper Stacker: Silly.....the package of diapers on the shelf under the changing table works much better. Boppy: I, personally, used a body pillow to feed my baby, instead. I just could never get the hang of the Boppy. Dressy Clothes: One or two outfits for the first few age-sets is one thing....but if you receive much more than that and you'll not have the occassion to put the baby in them. __________________ Blankets: I, personally, loved and used MANY receiving blankets. I think they are great for diaper changing pads, burp cloths AND wrapping baby. Diapers: The best gift....parents can never get TOO MANY diapers! Wipes: Just like the diapers Onesies: Especially 3-6 months and 6-9 months.

I got a vicks vaporizer. I kinda looked at it funny when I opened it, but it got lots of use. Whenever she had a head cold, conjested, stuffy I would use it so she could take naps and sleep through the night and breath easier.

6-12mth clothes- Was awesome b/c EVERYONE bought 0-3mth and they just are not in that size long at all. My daughter was in 0-3mth for about a month and so I had so many clothes that never got used and still have tags on it. I would suggest asking for only 3-6mth and 6-12mth clothes while you and Grandma buy the 0-3mth stuff.

Film or disposable camers b/c you will go through lots of film when the baby comes.

A diaper genie. I didn't think that I needed somewhere to go with the dirty diapers. I was so hung up on the materialistic stuff for the baby, so that's what I registered for. I, too, received a baby bathtub. Excellent!

I got a boppy pillow, which was SO nice for nursing the baby. It gets the baby in a good position, snuggled right by your breast. My husband also found it very comfortable when he bottlefed our son. It doubles as a pillow for the baby to learn to sit up with. I used mine constantly, and now I buy one for my friends and family when anyone is having a baby shower.

stuff the baby needed for when he turned 6-12 months.
like toddler spoons, sippy cups, feeding bowls with lids.
clothes for 6/9 months.

He skipped the newborn size right to 3/6 months and quickly reached 6/9 months

It's not glamorous by any stretch of the imagination, but my sister gave me a HUGE bottle of Dreft. It's something that I could have very easily gone out and purchased myself, but a) I wouldn't have thought of it until the last minute; and b) it's fairly expensive.

I got a great triangular pillow which was for me and baby, great when I was in late stages of pregnancy and couldn't get comfy, great when I was breast feeding, and great for lying baby in. Lasted for two babies and never would have got one for myself. Babies loved it because it smelt of Mum.

Cloth diapers, they make great spit up rags and I still keep 2 in the diaper bag at all times.
