If they click on a link taking them away, they have to back track to get back to whatever they were reading, and may get so side tracked they never make it back after clicking a link.

in your link code, add "Target="blank"

IE Zeropointe

doing this will always open the link in a new window.

I don't think that can be done by the person creating the link. If someone wants to open a link in a new window, or tab(if they have tabbed browsing like firefox) they need to right click on the link and choose open link in new window, or in new tab. This way they wont loose werever they are at.

Try using a free pop up window creator. Just google free popup maker.
