I crave ice. I can't seem to walk by the refrigerator without going into the freezer and taking out the ice cube trays to crush ice into a bowl and munch away. I am not pregnant. I know that. Could I be missing something in my body that's making me crave ice?

Well, I can honestly say I know what it could be. My Mother went through the same thing...crunchin' on ice NONSTOP! I just wanted to strangle her every time she came around because I knew what it meant! lol!

Anyway, after a blood test at the doc's, it was found that she was anemic & had very low iron in her body. This lady chewed ice for 2 years & a couple weeks into the once a day iron pills, she completely stopped eating ice.

This was about 2 years ago and I haven't seen her eat ice one time. See a dr & get a blood test. I hope this helps you out.

That is a major sign that you are anemic. Eat some red meat right away and take some vitamins.

yes, you are missing minerals in your diet. this has a specific term that is called pica- eating non-nutritive substances. it can be caused by a deficiency in minerals in your diet, especially iron or zinc. i would go to your doctor and discuss these habits so that a treatment can be rendered in the case that you are experiencing anemia or other deficiencies. good luck

You could have a condition called pica, where you crave non-nutritive foods. You should see your doctor to have your nutrition evaluated, as pica often accompanies mineral deficiencies.
