No, never. A baby shouldn't have *anything* but human milk (or formula) until she/he is 6 months old. It doesn't matter *how* hungry, *how* big, *how* mature, etc., the baby is, she/he is not supposed to get solids or water early. Every health organization worldwide has a statement to this effect today.

Newborns don't need water or gatorade. If they have a problem with regular breast milk or formula, you should talk to their doctor to find out what would be best.

In the first few months, a baby should get one water bottle for about every four bottles of milk/formula.
No gatorade (or soda, etc.) at all for at least until they're in a high chair eating regular food!
Juice is ok, but only after they've started eating solid food. Start with veggies, not fruits; if baby eats fruit first, they will like the sweet taste and reject veggies more often - so start with veggies and then go to fruits.
Save $$ by boiling and mashing your own veggies with a processor or blender - processed jars only add salt and ruin the flavor, as well as you pay for tons of glass. Invest in tupperware!

NO!!! Too many fluids can dilute their blood!! Only breast milk or formula till 4 months...when they start to have solids...then only a little water ( no more than 4 ounces a day) juice for a treat once in a while. EEven on a really hot day a baby does not need all that water...they get enough liquids in their milk

Neither. All a newborn needs right now is formula or breast milk. Nothing else. At 6 mons you can start giving water and foods.

You can give them water. Gatorade would be harmful to a newborn. Try pedialite - the chemicals are not as harsh.

Why do you want to do this? If the baby is sick and can't hold down food, or has diarrhea, then pedialyte is OK. Otherwise, all the fluid it needs is in the formula or breast milk. Don't worry. They won't dehydrate. NO GATORADE.

We started giving our baby water with a little prune juice at 2 months per our pediatrician, BUT she had constipation problems with her formula. And it was WAY diluted!
No gatorade I would think---not sure why you'd want to do that?

NO NO NO!!!! Babies should not have anything other than formula or breast milk until at least 4 months old, then you introduce cereal on a spoon...not even water then!! You should talk to the Dr. to get all of the information you need.
