I'm totally not a conservative person in my views, but I hate body piercings. I can't stand seeing men wearing earings, I've got three young boys (all under 7), if any of them get their ears pierced in later years, I don't think I could handle it.
Women with pierced ears is about the maximum I can tolerate, anything else, and I'm disgusted. If a Beyonce-like woman walks past me in the street I'll think she's very attractive, but if she has a pierced belly button I'll almost feel physically sick.
Are there any other liberal-minded people out there who are also disgusted by body piercings, or am I just a freak?
I think it's the idea of making a hole in your body and hanging a Christmas tree decoration through it that I really hate.

i agree with you...i meet people whom i totally respect but then i see a piercing and yes i feel physically sick too sometimes...especially in a mall where there are those guys with huuuuge holes in their ears and they have almost no skin left....i personally think that it is self-harming when you take it to that extent...and most of the times piercings make the person look immature.....its so dangerous and i think later on the people regret their decision to get pierced...i have pierced ears and i am accepting of pretty much anything that does not damage youelf or another person....ur def not a freak

Well, men and kids wearing earrings is nothing new - it was quite popular at one point during Elizabethen times. Looking a tribes today, I expect the custom of body piercing (and impaling!) is ancient, and it just goes in and out of vogue.
We weren't allowed to wear any jewellery at school, so I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 15. I have my ears pierced twice. I would do my eyebrow...but don't fancy any other piercings, really. I don't mind others with them.
I've seen chin piercings, scaffolds, nose, cheek piercings, etc. The only piercings that make me squick are tongues and genital piercings. One guy used to put a length of wire through his tongue at university and hang things off it....
Each to their own, but really...why tongues and genitals?? Especially when I hear of tongues getting infected and people not being able to eat solids for days. I couldn't be bothered with the pain myself.
Other than that they don't bother me!

It's your opinion, and evidently not a problem in this case. I agree with every word you said, by the way. The fact that people can only make themselves "stand out" or "act cool" by disrespect of piercing their body is disgustingly sad. Pathetic, too. See? My opinion. Anything problematic there? If you're open-minded and tolerant to other opinions, no. I feel no guilt, on the extreme contrary, to say what I feel about this matter! I pardon my own insult and judgement for body piercings, but you CANNOT tell me there is truth in what I saw! Let me recapitulate: you possibly infect your body by piercing metal Christmas decorations (nicely said!) through it to look COOL??? Excuse me, but I want to say "Get a life!" I'm like you; I only tolerate ear piercings, but even then... still probably a major no-no for me.
Thank you for reading and stand tall with your own opinions! You look like you have a good head on your shoulders anyway. ;)

Oh, your not alone. Most body piercings(even on the ears) make me sick. I think the only ones I can handle are lip piercings, but only if they're to the side of the mouth.
Other than that, ewww.

I like some piercings but I think a person can go overboard. A cute belly ring, a little stud in the nose... that is as far as I would go.

Your not a freak for that. Lots of people don't like piercing and some of them are liberals. Now should I get my nipples pierced next or my nose?

No you don't have a problem, its just your opinion. I have my ears and belly button pierced, but my 8 yr old son has just asked for his ears pierced and i told him over my dead body, yes i know im a hypocrite

I have to agree with you that body piercings are a bit pointless, but if thats how people want to express their individuality, I wouldn't hold it against them.
There probably are other 'piercing haters' out ther but I'm afraid you may be in the minority.

Its very much a personal issue - some like to wear some don't and some like to see some don't - each to their own :o) - just like everything else in life.
Its simple really if you don't like to see it don't go out (mingle with) with people who have them and/or show them off.
Personally they don't bother me as long as there isnt too many of them and its not all bling :o/
