sounds more like a insecureity problem then anything, as far has the addement problem. has far has the money goes, well thats also a womens thing as well, i think the best thing to do is you have a joint acct, and he has also a single acct, as well as you do . you both get an allowance for ur seperate accts, you can spend any way you choose, with no questions asked, but the joint acct, is handled by both of you for bill payin, vacations, well you get the idea

Sounds like he's passive aggressive. Is he punishing you for going to your parents? Or is it that you just have more sense than him and he was never taught how to balance a checkbook? If he actually messes it up on purpose while you are gone he is seriously doing the passive aggressive thing. If you are just upset that he screws it up cause he doesn't know how to keep track then teach him. Maybe you should let him do it for awhile...teaching him how to do it of course before you let him. Then he might realize how it works and not screw it up while you are gone. Or just leave him enough cash and take the book with you when you go.

No man on my husband's side of the family can be trusted with the Finances. So that is my job and he can help while I sit down and pay the bills.

Mine does the same thing. He can not be trusted. No matter how much we have in there he can single handidly empty out our account within days and not know where any of it went. I am seriously considering divorce because of that reason as well as others.
