Why do people hate Israelis / jews?

Question

Jews are hated by almost everyone. in Israel, we are trying to defend ourselves from hizbullah, and in return, the world, except for the US, criticises us. Why? We are defending ourselves, our bad northern neighbour should be punished for its neglect of harbouring terrorists. We killed hundreds of lebanese civilians, but isn't that ok since we are defending ourselves?
the whole world hates us, why? nazis hated us, arabs hate us, why is it like that?

Well, history is one reason. Not to mention the way Israeli Governement treats the palestinians is another. Where you aware that an entire highway will be shut down so a single car with jewish settlers can travel on it while a pregnant palestinian women may go into labor and not be allowed to travel to the hosital? Yes - it's true - I witnessed it. I was outraged. BTW - Baby was still born. As for current situation, I support Israel's right to fight Hezbullah for it's incursion into Israel lands and kidnapping of it's two soldiers. However, if Israel wants peace, it has to start by giving Palestine some breathing room.

Hatred of Jews goes way, way back and is founded on the dissension between regular Jews and the "new" Jews of the, at first, Jewish Christian movement. Then when this sect extended itself to gentiles, there was more dissension. Things took on a life of their own.

But after that, the real, actual reason is that for all the suffering and discrimination and persecution over all the years, Jews have not only survived, they have prospered.

When a group that people hate does well anyway, the haters find it exasperating and they hate even more.

Here at Yahoo Answers, there is more support for Israel than for these terrorists, except of course from those already anti-Jewish, who would be that way no matter what.

People don't understand that groups like Hezbollah are using their "struggle" against "the Zionist entity" merely as a means to get support and to advance their larger agenda, which is to make the entire geo-political area a fascist Islamic empire run by Shiite extremists.

I agree that Lebanon should have done more to stop Hezbollah within its borders. However, Israel performed offensive actions - not defensive - against the Lebanese people.

Yes, Hezbollah was attacking areas of Israel. But Israel is ATTACKING LEBANON b/c it HARBORED Hezbollah - NOT b/c Lebanon actually attacked Israel.

*THIS IS A CLEAR DIFFERENCE* and makes Israel's move offensive.

The "world" is merely pointing out the obvious.

Israel is far from innocent, and Hezbollah's disgust is far from unwarranted. Israel illegally occupies Palestinian territory - and has been for years. It's not enough that the "world" who "hates" the Jews so much carved out a country and gave it to the Jews, but the Jews have to bulldoze Palestinian homes (with American Caterpillars) and move into land that is clearly defined as NOT theirs.

I reject and am disgusted by Islamic fascists and Zionists equally (and of course Christian right-wing extremists - although that doesn't pertain to this argument).

I do not hate Israel, I have always been on their side. But more and more I begin to have questions of what is right and wrong. I still do not have the answers because I still on the side of Israel, but not as much as before.

Why are they hated by so many? That I do not know nor do I know about the history prior to 1948, you should know your history and you should be able to answer this question yourself.

My understanding is that in 1948, Jews were giving the land that they live in now.
This land belonged to the Arabs (or someone that have been living there for hundreds of years). The surrounding neighbors were resentful of that, because it was their land. Because of their resentment, the Israel treated their neighbor like animal. So, ask yourself, ‘why do they hate Jew?’.

In the seventies, I was watching a program on TV (I think it was 60 minutes), the reported went to Israel to talked to Jews families why they hated Palestinians.
The Jews family laughed and say things like, ‘Palestinian are stupid, dirty, and you can smell them a mile away’. They did not know that one of the Cameraman helper was a Palestinian, when they were told, all laugher stopped. They could not look at the helper in the face. They all looked down at the floor. They wanted the interview to end and everybody to go away.
Ask yourself ‘why do they hate Jew?’.

Like I said before, I do not hate Jew, I do not look back at history. I just want to look forward and say the past is the past and let move on. But it does not seem like that could ever happen.

This American does not hate Israel. You have the right to defend your homeland as we here in the United States. There are always casualties in war they are a fact of this type of action. If Lebanon wanted to stay a peaceful nation they should not have let Hezbollah in. I do have a doubt that you are a Israeli, I base this on several miss spellings in your question....

I do not hate jewish people but i do not agree with what Isreal is doing. you are killing thousands of people not connected with hizbullah in anyway. You've showed them you will defend yourself now quit the killings and back off. Noone supports this war (except our moronic president) and you are just gaining support for Hizbullah.

They killed Jesus.
They have invaded other peoples land.
They have historically been cheap.
They have historically been merchants and people who make money.
They are gods chosen people according to the old testiment although that was context of it's time.
They are easy to make fun of.
A lot of jews look similar (nose) so if you hate one you probably hate them all. (If you are that ignorant which a lot of people are)

Basically they are always in the mix somehow,but bottom line is that the US will not allow another holocoust.
People hate arabs, blacks, asians, whites, pretty much there is a lot of ethnocentrism where people don't like other cultures. It is amplified by propaganda and people who have no tolerence.

Why does the world hate Israel? ...Probably seems that way, being surrounded by Muslims.

Why does the world think all Americans are stupid and fat? ...Probably because all they see of our culture are horrid shows like 'Family Guy'.

it is not that anybody hates Israel of the Jews, but that Israel is OCCUPYING Palestinian territory, along with the territory of many other neighboors and HAS BOLAS is trying to get it back.
