according to Dr. kathleen Klas Thames, MS, RD, nutrition consultant and fitness professional, the best time to take a low fat, high carbohydrate (at least 50 grams) meal is 3 to 6 hours before exercising. This will provide you with just the right amount of energy to help fuel your workout. She adds, " this will help build glycogen stores, sustain blood sugar levels, and prevent dehydration." In short, eating amount of food at the right time prior to your workout will ensure more energy and better performance while you're exercising. Try banana or an apple, a piece of puto, or two small pieces of pandesal. Cereal is good too as long as it's not sugar-based or loaded with fat.

I go to the gym at about 3 in the afternoon. I've found that eating no later than noon helps to keep me from feeling nauseated. I usually eat something small like a yogurt or a banana just before I go, and then eat something that has a fair amount of protein just after. The protein was added on the advice of the trainer - she said that it helps the muscles to burn fat & calories a bit longer than you would otherwise.
As an FYI - there is probably no correlation between appendicitis and exercise - unless you're hit in that area (lower right quadrant of the abdominal cavity). People get appendectomies when the appendix ruptures, not because of strain or overeating.

I usually work out in the early mornings, like five, and I eat breakfast at 10 am. If I eat any earlier than that, I get nauseous. Probably has nothing to do with the workout, though. I would say wait two to three hours after eating to wokr out, and drink plenty of liquids, then have a light snack afterwards, but no heavy meals within an hour.

you should eat after you work out, just try to make sure that you don't take in more calories than you burned for your best results. Also, your body will continue to burn calories up to 6 hours post work out, so it is better to eat after, plus that way you won't be as likely to get the stitch in your side while working out.

I usually workout in the morning and try to wait until afterwards. I heard to do that so that you're burning more fat and not just burning off what you ate. I don't know if it works or not, but you definitely don't want to work out on a full stomach. Wait an hour until your stomach digests.
