Please remember that the triple screen is just that a "screen". It only tells you if you at risk for certain genetic problems it cannot tell you that there definitely is a problem. If your screen does indicate a high risk then you will be referred for further testing. Many women have "positive" screens and a perfectly normal baby. If you are in good health and under 35 your risk for these defects is low. It is natural to worry about the health of the baby you are carrying but all you can do at this point is take good care of yourself (be under doctors care, eat right etc) the rest is in God's hand so to speak. So relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

I actually refused to get the test done. The Triple Screen test only tests for 3 different disorders. One of them being Downs. One of the other tests is for Triosmy 13 (I think that is the right number) and that disorder is something that usually causes a miscarraige, or a baby to die just after being born. It is extremely rare for a child to survive with it. I can't remember what the other disorder is. I am 36, but I decided I didn't want it done because even if it was Downs I don't think I could abort my child, and I have known several women personally that have come back with abnormally high numbers on their tests and still had a perfectly healthy baby.

I am now going through my fourth pregnancy and I have worried with every single one of them. This is the only pregnancy that I had the blood test done, simply because I am over 35. My doc said that my test MIGHT come back positive this time, simply because that in my age group the tests are skewed so the results do come back positive (they want you to come back for more testing.) So I was completely expecting a positive result and it still came back negative. My doc says that for my age group the percentages increase from like 1 or 2% to 3%. This is still a VERY SMALL percentage for anything to go wrong.
The waiting time is torture, but try and relax. The odds really are in your favor for having a healthy baby.

I refused it from the get go. I had the comparable sentiment as you-the toddler could be enjoyed in basic terms as plenty. additionally, the reality that the attempt, inspite of the undeniable fact that has an exceptionally intense detection cost, additionally has an exceptionally intense fake useful cost. If my attempt got here back as intense threat, it would have pushed me insane, as there's no way i might threat an amino, and can could wait till he substitute into born. a woman I communicate to had various markers at her 12 week NT test, so they presented her the triple, which got here back intense threat, and she or he had an amino. The amino confirmed not one of the 4 chromosonal deficiencies they seem for, and on the 20 week test, there have been no markers in any respect and toddler substitute into appropriate. She even had an in intensity coronary heart test. The 8 weeks have been hell for her. This affirmed to me that I had made the stunning decision in rejecting the attempt. If termination by using abnormalities isn't a attention, then i do no longer see the element extremely. xx playstation in basic terms had to characteristic, my toddler substitute into appropriate on the 20 week test, no markers or reason to point issues.

Try not to worry to much about it I know its hard not to but, I had the same test done about 3 months ago and it came back positive and of course I freaked out, but after the test was ran again and they did an extensive ultrasound everything ended up being fine with my baby.

I was scared too but had no reason to b. Its natural to worry.
However, excess stress could end up being the thing that puts your baby in danger. I know its easier said than done but the less you worry the better it is for your baby.....
..... and I'm afraid what ever will be, will be so where's the use in stressing.
Good luck, but I'm sure you won't need it ;o)

I know the stress you are feeling. They ran tests on me when I was Pregnant and I found out I was RH Positive and had gestational diabetes. So just be calm and everything will be great. You should definitely know now if anything is wrong anyways so it can be handled correctly. Good Luck and Congratulations!!!

these blood tests are just routine when you are pregnant, dont panic, they are done to make sure that everything is ok with you and baby and if anything is wrong then treatment can be given asap, if you dont have the hiv test then a midwife can refuse to deliver your baby as they are putting themselves in danger in case you did have the disease as precautions are taken for those who have got it
