Hi,
You should try the Dove version, it's called summerskin, it's brilliant and I swear by it. I put it on every time I get out of the bath like normal moisturizer, just make sure that you rub it in properly around your knees, elbows and ankles. Also wash your hands after making sure you pay attention to the underside of your wrists. Then squeeze some more on the back of your hands and rub them together, back to back so that your hands don't look white. You will notice a nice natural tan after about 2 - 3 days.
Keep it up every night until you have the desired colur and then do it every other night.
It is brilliant stuff.
At the moment if you buy it from Superdrug it's £4.99, buy one get one free.
Happy tanning!! :~)

Hi, you maybe using the one not for your skin type, theres fair to medium and medium to dark. I used the fair to medium and found that it went orange on my knees and elbows, but didnt with the medium to dark Nivea Sunkissed Skin. With medium to dark it was a nice tan and i didnt exfoliate before i used it. The trick is to put it on a little at a time like moisturiser and rub it in well. And use it every day and dont apply to much to the places where you have gone patchy at, you may not be rubbing the moisturier in well enough and leaving it on the service, also wait till it dries bfore you dress as this could be rubbing some of the moisturiser off leaving you with patchy tanned skin. Johnsons isnt really that good, Nivea is the best one i used. It also ahs a skin firmer in so you get beautifully tanned firmed skin. They dont smell to nice either do they. Also If you put your johnsons on directly after showering it this is when you exfoliate which im sure i will be, you may be putting your moisturiser on some wet skin and some dry which could be why it is also going patchy. The best thing is put it on when you have been out of the bath or shower for a while.

I sympathise a lot!!
The same thing is happening to me. I think there's something sinister going on. It's a conspiracy!! By the White Skin Club or The League Against Tanned Skin......they have infiltrated all the fake tan products!
But seriously - I am not paranoid....but this is the first year I have had such a problem. It is weird because there are so many products on the market - more than ever before, but they don't seem as good.
I do have a tip - that I haven't tried myself yet - You can buy a product that is supposed to help - it looks like an ordinary cloth and costs a bomb, but it helps you to apply fake tan (allegedly)
The Body Shop sell it.
Just going down there now - might see you!
Good luck!!!

You need to exfoliate first to stop the patchyness. You have rub it in so you can no longer feel it on your skin, if you put to much on it ends up streaking. I always apply it with downward / upward strokes, circular movement seems to cause streaks too. Put a little on everyday making sure you cover all areas and that its well absorbed. Hope this helps =)

I had the same problem. You need to exfoliate before you put it on then you need to put it on just a little at a time. Choose the colour nearest to your own skin tone. I find that even when its properly on it crinkles off and you end up looking dirty. Not a great look all things considered.

You might be best to treat it like fake tan. I use about a ten pence size blob for each half leg. Rub it in in circles rather than up and down. Don't get dressed until you feel it has all dried completely.
Good luck !!

Just let it be as nature intended it. If you are pale, highlight this aspect of yourself. For me, pale well-looked after skin has the potential to be so, so beautiful. Otherwise, switch to Dove. It worked for me.

I put on loads of it once and looked mighty streaky, but a small amount workks well. Maybe it just doesn't suit your skin...

these things are never as easy as they say........maybe your skin is dry in patches, try moisturising first as well as exfoliating.
