I have used 409 and Dawn dish soap for this. But I have had some cloths that the mud would never come out. It depends on what kind of mud it is.
Use alot of 409 or dawn and find some sort of brush to work it in good. then wash

Good Luck

Use spray and wash dual action cleaner and rub it into the stain. Wash with a strong detergent (Tide or Era). Retreat the stain if it doesn't come out the first time. DO NOT dry the clothing until the stain is gone, retreat it when the item is still wet. Letting the item(s) dry will set the stain.

Either use oxy clean or that kinda new stuff, where its in 2 seperate containers until you spray it onto the stain. That stuff seems to get out EVERYTHING!
