Are you comfy at your new job in NY? Playing on the company's computer? Comfy posting a pic that ain't you? Are you comfy asking this crap while you are NOT sitting in a medical tent in the desert helping those 'innocent'? Are you comfy knowing OUR money is the largest contributor to helping those same 'innocent' and the rest of the world? Are you comfy knowing no other country does more to stabilize the world? They get what they deserve. They have a corrupt govt' who socializes and harbors terrorists. Get me a case of bud light hoe!

Here's the thing:
I would like to know what you're doing about it. However, before the US was in Iraq, Saddam was killing people by the millions. Before the US pressured the Sudanese and Ugandan Government to call a cease fire, kids were being kidnapped, raped, tortured and forced to fight as child soldiers in a war that started before some of their parents were born.
I am comfortable. We all are. But it doesn't mean that we don't care and that we aren't affected by the tragedies of the world. Don't be self-righteous without backing up your own actions.
I've spent hours building awareness about the attrocities in Africa. I've spent a lot of money donating to service organizations that supply the people of Africa with food and medical supplies. I've talked to my Senators and Representatives. I've sent packages to my friends fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan when they ask for toys and anything else to give to the children affected by the war.
It's a lot harder than you think to get something done in the US. When you have 300 some people with an opinion, and they all have a lot of powerful people barking up their tree, it takes a lot to push something through. But you have to have it for even the most remote form of Democracy. If you eliminate some of the poeple, you leave the door open for more of a hierarchy and totalitarianism.
I've done my part and a lot of other American people have as well. No matter what our involvement, millions of people have died. It's easy to ask a question like this when you're watching the war from your couch in front of your TV. People complain about the war and its alterior motives. They may be right, but we're helping those people. Ask any soldier. They might not understand why we went to war, but a large majority of the people in those countries are glad that we're there.
Do your research, take some action and stop wasting your time asking ridiculous when you could be utilizing it much more efficiently.

Yes I'm comfie. The problems in the middle east and elsewhere are a real concern but the a/c stays on over here. I also won't be starving my family out of sympathy for the hungry kids. Human suffering is rampant in the world, and everybody does what they can for their own family and community and country. Good luck!

Well what can we do, try to suffer too just becos they are suffering? Its sad but we still have to go on our daily lives. The only thing we can do is to pray for them and hope that the war will end soon, we don't have to punish ourselves just because there is a war happening in another place. But we do need to be reminded of course of how fortunate we are and appreciate what we have.
One more thing though that might not be relevant to the question, but a point to ponder, i remembered during SEPT 11 when THOUSANDs of people died, i remembered seeing the cheerings and celebrations on tv of some middle eastern countries. Isn't that horrible ?

are you comfie? And what are you doing about it?
Each of us has to find an issue that is important to us. We cannot tackle every issue in the world. For me, I work on an education which will help me help others, not just my own family (read my profile for what I want to do). And as a Christian, as I see a person in need that I can help, I do help.
REVISION: I don't think that anyone can solve world hunger or create world peace. But what we can do is to tackle one issue at a time within our own scope. For instance, I cannot stop world hunger, but I can donate food to the local food pantry. I can also educate myself and try to achieve a career where I will help other people.
If each of us "pay it forward" (for each good deed done for us, do three for other people), think about the impact we can have!

Should I invite my own suffering in order to ease the quilt of being fortunate. Do you not enjoy any the advantages of an advanced and industrialized society, if so, those advantages were likely built on the backs of some exploited underclass of less privileged by capitalist overlords who disproportionately reaped the fruits of the underclasses toil and labor. Therefore, I put to you, should we all then sacrifice any sort of life of convenience or privilege and go back to the dog eat dog world of the law of the jungle? And you shoes were made by pre-school aged children working in an Asian sweat shop, but hey, they accentuate the shape of your legs and that's what counts.

Not at all but unfortunately I do not have the ability to change the evil that occurs. You on the other hand look very comfy in your high heels and short skirt. If you are so concerned why don't we/ you post some suggestions on how we all can help.
