The links between the Daily Mail and Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts and the paper's support of the Nazi party prior to the war are well publicised, is the paper's political stance any different these days ?

Jimmy, I don't get your argument about intelligent readers. Big Brother attracts a lot of viewers but that doesn't prove that it's watched by intelligent people.

Godfrey, you seem to suggest that New Labour are, in some way, socialists. New Labour = Old Tories. Enoch Powell was wrong, John Reid was equally wrong. Immigration has enriched this island and I'd advocate opening the border. I agree the Mail and Mirror are on the same level, but the Guardian is a quality newspaper, see also the Times.

It's pretty right wing. Very subtle brainwashing of its largley unintelligent readership who haven't got an individual thought in their heads. Too much nurse/teacher/civil servant bashing as well.

You can say The Mail is a right wing paper, but no one can say it is a Fascist paper these days.

I am well aware of the links between the Daily Mail and Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts and the paper's support of the Nazi party prior to the war. But that is History now.

Today, any fair-minded person would say it is a reformed paper and now a voice of moderation these days.

It's about the same, these days The Daily Mail's crusade is to convince "Middle England" (whetever the f*ck that is) that all their woes are caused by illegal immigrants and single mothers. The spirits of Mosley and Enoch Powell are still at the helm off this sorry excuse for a newspaper. Personally, I wouldn't wipe my **** on it.

Mind you when you think about it we do need something to balance out the left wing rantings of the Daily Mirror and the Gruniad(sorry,Guardian). Didn't John Reid,Labour Home Secretary, recently say something that Enoch Powell said many years ago. "We urgently need to restrict immigration!" What hypocrites these socialists are, they object to what they call racism but allow a body like the BLACK Police Federation to exist! They objected to privatisation but when a certain Scottish Labour cabinet minister died he was found to have a couple of million quids worth of BT,Gas and Electricity shares!!
And what about the recent suggestion that only companies that employ ethnic minorities will get Government and Local Government contracts? Never mind the right of an employer to select who he/she thinks is the best one for the job.
We are slowly moving to a dictatorial state, something like Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia.

If you don't like it don't read it. try reading the Daily Mirror or The Guardian. If you want some alternatives. Personally I don't think it is read by 'unintelligent readers' The fact that it is read by propably approx 5 million people a day and is one of the most popular daily papers dispels the myth that it is read by unintelligent readers. Perhaps 'hamster' should read it and stop asking questions about hair products and as for 'grinner' the reason people dislike single mums and immigrants is that a large percentage of them cost the taxpayers millions and I, along with millions of others am sick of paying for them. If you don't want to wipe your **** on it, perhaps you should wipe it on The Daily Mirror, that paper and your shitty **** have alot in common.

I think it is marginally less right wing than it was but it would have been hard for it not to be.
However, it is still a better paper than the trashy guardian with its lies and half truths.
