i washed a load of jeans the other night. as soon as they finished washing i took them and put them in the dryer. when i went back to get them to hang them up, they stunk like they were soured. so, i put them back in the washer for a second wash then dried them immediately and they still smelled. i thought that maybe i have too many in the load (which i dont think i did) but just in case i halfed the load and washed one load and dried them and then washed and dries the other load. they still smell really bad and we can not wear them because of the smell. i dont know why they smell this way because i did not leave them in the washer to sour, i took them out as soon as they finished and dried them all the way. what can i do to fix this? or what is causing this?

It could be the fabric or dye in them. Are they new?
Soak maybe 3 pair in the washer filled with water and then add some vinager to the water, soak about 30 min. then wash.
If this dont solve the problem hang them outside for a few hours.
I have even put things like pine-sol or Lysol in a load of cloths. then rewashing them.

Good Luck

Run your washer with no clothes in it. Pour vinegar in it and let it run through the system. Then try washing your jeans and put some vinegar in them. Wash them a second time without vinegar and use soap. Maybe this will help

just like pottersclay said....if you hate the vinegar smell put equal parts fabric softener in.

i have had the same thing happen

my theory is that the heavy lint builds around the drain and causes the smell

Try Borax. You can find it in the laundry aisle. It is an old fashioned wash product but I always use it. Eliminates odors and boosts detergent. Great stuff.

I don't know why they smell. You can wash a few with vinegar and soap. Vinegar ususally gets rid of the smell.

Baking soda also helps eliminate odors but doesn't create new odor the way vinegar may. Baking soda may neutralize the odor.
