Why don't you just ask Coke or Pepsi while you are at it. In reality it depends on which two specific cards you are looking at, in which case you need to look for benchmarks of the specific cards in question.

This is like the fifth time this exact question has been postes and nVidia has won every time. I prefer nVidia, myself. But ATI has some pretty good cards and either is suited for gaming and high end graphics. I guess it is a matter of better deal then. For me this is again nVidia and to be exact, I use only BFG made products (not 3dFusion) because they offer a lifetime warranty on their products and they hold to it. I had a four year old video card of theirs I bought used, and it died and they replaced it free! If you want to feel secure in your purchase, get a BFG! It may cost more, but you won't have to worry about it 2 or three years down the road as if anything goes wrong, they will replace it.

NVIDIA is surely better than ATI. If u are a compulsive gamer, then any high end card from both the brands will do. Still, NVIDIA has better drivers. Also, in the budhet category, NVIDIA rulz....

i am personally an nvidia user...but here are the arguments both ways:

ati: better image quality, able to do AA and HDR at the same time

nvidia: higher fps, more matured multi-gpu systems, generally better drivers

if you buy an ati card and an nvidia card within the same class (mid-range, high-end, etc.) they generally perform close enough.

nVidia. ATi has nothing that can match their mid-level offerings. ATi has nothing that is comparable to a 7300GT, 7600GS or 7600GT as those cards blow away the X1300 and X1600 series which are meant to compete with those cards and they can't touch them with a 10 foot pole.
