Pennsylvania DMV is run by the devil. The answer to this is so hard to find because they do not give you an option to ask a person over the phone. It is easier to figure out the answer to time travel than it is to get someone on the phone from the DMV.

I finally got a hold of a person at the DMV. They don't know. They said call the state you are going to in order to find out. Lovely.

Thanks to everyone who answered. I spoke with my DMV, the US border patrol, and the Canadian border patrol. I am allowed to ride my motorcycle with a proper permit, insurance, and registration. If it's legal in the US, it's legal to drive in Canada- they honor all licensing from the US. I just need to bring another form if ID to cross. Thanks again everyone!

Don't know what these nitwits are talking about. You can ride all over the country with a valid learner's permit, but it's daylight riding only. You don't have to have a licensed rider with you,you can leave the state on any road/highway etc. I don't know about leaving the country. That you should check with Canadian authorities. Yeah, Pa. can be a trip! I've worked with the DMV as an instructor for the Motorcycle Safety Program for many years. Enjoy &Ride Safe.

When riding with a permit -
-You have have to ride with someone with a full motorcycle license and be no further away then 1 mile from that person.
-You can not ride outside of the county (that's county, not country) that your license was endorsed in, usually the county you live in.
-You may not ride after dark.
-Those are the rules in my state. Check with your DMV. Do a web search for "your state" DMV.

Permits are usually restricted to a certain distance from home...better check with the DMV...

DEFINITELY NOT!

In most states you aren't even legal to ride on major freeways on a permit!

Wait it out till you are a legal rider and go have some fun!!!

Absolutely not!! You should have a handbook that tells you the particulars of what, when, where, and how you can ride until you get your operators.

Why not just avoid the hassle altogether and get your regular operators license? It's not all that difficult.
